Safety Statement

PMN is based on the celebration and respect of diversity, including gender, age, race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, economic status, and personality. It is essential for all PMN events to be safe, comfortable and welcoming, both physically and emotionally, for everyone. We acknowledge that this usually happens on its own. However, situations may arise where someone feels unsafe. Therefore, we recognize that some specific boundaries and guidelines are needed; mediation may sometimes be necessary.

We therefore affirm the following as guiding principles:

1. That all people and views be treated respectfully and with kindness in all interactions and situations.

2. That any interactions have the full consent of all people involved, and that this consent can be removed at any time. Remember that people have very different boundaries and comfort with physical contact.

The mediation team will be created for each PMN gathering and be made public and visible at gatherings. The team’s responsibility will be to try to resolve any problems or conflicts presented to them. The team will respect the privacy of all involved persons. Their work will be to engage all involved persons in respectful, sensitive and open communication about the problem or issue presented. In specific situations, other people may also be asked to help with this work. If needed, any major decisions will be left to the steering committee to make.
