People's Music Summer Gathering 2008

Registration Information

COSTS: These are sliding scale: $100-200 for adults, $30-50 for students ages 12-22, and no charge for children under 12. The cost for folks not staying overnight is $65-75 for adults, and $20-25 for children. The day rate: $40-45 Sat. and $25-30 Sun. for adults, and $15-20 Sat. and $10-15 Sun. for children. The price includes all food (Fri. night 'heavy' snack, Sat. breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening treats, and Sun. Breakfast and lunch), overnight accommodations (dorm or camping space) and registration.

For folks with no or low income, you can pay below the low end of the scale (if you choose to do this, please register at least 10 days in advance.) If you are able, we ask that everyone pay at least $55 ($45 if received more than 10 days in advance) for adults or $20 for children, to cover food costs. We also encourage those who are able to donate to help others attend. This makes the gathering more affordable for everyone, and the donations are Tax Deductible!

WE ARE Offering A $10 DISCOUNT FOR PRE-REGISTRATION FORMS RECEIVED BY MAY 9th!!!

SCHEDULE: Registration is Friday 6pm-11 pm and Saturday morning. Activities begin Friday evening with a bonfire. There are workshops Saturday, and a Round Robin Saturday evening. There is one more series of workshops on Sunday. The gathering ends with a Closing Ceremony around noon.

PLENARY: This year the steering committee has to decided to do a one time experiment and not have a plenary. This will give people a little more unstructured time to do whatever it is they need and want to do. We hope to see everyone later at the business meeting, refreshed!

SONGS OF THE SPIRIT: This is a circle in which we have the opportunity to share inspirational and empowering songs from all cultures. One song typically follows another organically, with limited facilitation and no performance-type introductions or spoken words. Silence is also welcomed as a transition between songs that are shared. Songs raised in this circle are easy to learn, folk tradition sing-alongs. discrete, non-intrusive audio recording is permissible, but video recording and still photography is not allowed.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS: We encourage you to tent: space for that is abundant. For privacy, this is your best bet. There is abundant rustic, indoor, dormitory-style cabin space available. If you have special requirements please indicate them on the registration form.

CHILDCARE: If you are using childcare, make sure to sign your child in and out; also make sure to serve at least one workshift in the childcare area.

WHAT TO BRING: Anything musical: instruments, voices, tape recorders, recordings, songbooks to swap or sell. Photos/recordings/memories from past PMN gatherings. BEDDING/ SLEEPING BAGS and PILLOWS are a MUST! We also suggest you bring a flashlights, frisbees, gloves, bats, and balls etc. The camp is in a wooded area: be aware that this is an area where you may find Lyme disease-carrying deer ticks. Protect yourself with the least toxic, least scented, earth-friendly insect repellent that you can; wear long sleeves, socks and long pants; and check yourself for the small ticks after walking through weedy or grassy areas. Be aware of folks with chemical sensitivities. Do not bring or wear perfumes or strongly scented toiletries.

PLEASE DON'T BRING: PETS, ALCOHOL, or ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES!

SMOKING: There is no smoking in any of the buildings at Camp Epworth. We ask that when smoking check that you are downwind of buildings and other people.

SHARE THE WORK: The cost of the weekend is low because we share the workload! When you register, you will sign up for one one-hour work shift. If special circumstances keep you from being at your work shift on time, YOU must find a replacement.

SWIMMING: Most likely, we will not have access to the camp's pool, as our gathering is early in the season. But, there are lots of nice swimming holes in the area that we can direct you to if you want to go for a dip.

RECYCLING: The camp is all set up for recycling, but please bring your own utensils and plates to cut down on the trash.

ACCESSIBILITY: This camp is relatively accessible, but it is not perfect. There are ramps for the dining hall and one of the dorms. There are also accessible bathrooms in these buildings. The land is quite flat and there is a paved path between most of the buildings. If you have any questions about accessibility problems, please call Sarah Underhill at (845) 626-4507 or pmnsfs@hvi.net and ask her about the options..
