Summer Gathering 2018: Schedule

Friday, June 1

4:00-11:00 PM – Registration Opens

6:00-10:00 PM – Dinner (Dining Hall)

6:10-6:30 – Shabat at PMN (Dining Hall Porch)

Come join Mara Sapon-Shevin for a musical Shabbat ceremony open to EVERYONE. We will sing songs, light the candles, bless the wine and share challah. No prior knowledge necessary — come sing, hug and start the weekend with extra warmth.

7:30-9:45 PM – Friday Night Concert (Paul Robeson Theatre) 

10:00-??? PM – Friday Night Campfire Song Swap (Fireplace by the Dining Hall)

We’ll create a space where newcomers to PMN can get introduced to the community. Newcomers are especially encouraged to share songs. We’ll also have some old-comers on hand to share some songs.

Saturday, June 2

7:30 AM-8:30 AM – Breakfast

8:00 AM – Registration Opens

8:30 AM-8:45 AM – Opening Ceremony

9:00 AM-10:20 AM – Workshop One

10:35 AM-11:55 PM – Workshop Two

12:05 PM-1:00 PM – Community Meeting 

1:00 PM-2:00 PM – Lunch

2:15 PM-3:35 PM – Workshop Three

3:50 PM-4:50 PM – Plenary with Artists-in-Residence: Charlie King and Rick Burkhardt. 

5:00-6:15pm – Free Space / Swimming Time

During the Free Space, you can propose a workshop, activity, or jam right up to the very last minute. Deadline for proposals is Saturday at 4:00 PM. The lake is also available for swimming and boating!

6:15 PM-7:20 PM – Dinner

7:15 PM- 12 Midnight – Round Robin

The Round Robin is a concert in which everyone gets a chance to perform. Given the limited time, please keep introductions to one line, or better yet, no intro. You will have one song, not more than 5 minutes. Priority is given to first time performers, children and those with special needs. Others are chosen by lottery.

Sunday, June 3

12:15 PM-1:30 PM – Lunch

1:30pm-2:00pm – Closing Ceremony

One-on-one Mentoring Sessions

Experienced PMN members are available for one-on-one mentoring opportunities throughout the weekend: get pointers on your guitar/vocal and performance technique, work on your songwriting skills, or just talk to your mentor about finding your way as an independent musician. You may sign up for a session at the registration table when you arrive for the weekend, assignments will be on a first-come first-serve basis.
